Gaur, Rautahat, March 14 – Like other districts in the Terai region, Rautahat witnessed a grand three-day celebration of the Holi festival. While Holi is observed for a single day in the hilly regions, the people of Rautahat mark the festival with three days of joy and enthusiasm. The first day saw the youth kicking off the celebrations with colors, the second day was dedicated to large-scale community festivities, and the third day focused on family gatherings and exchanging greetings.
In major towns such as Gaur, Chandranigahapur, Garuda, Katahariya, Rajpur, and Baudhimai, thousands of people flooded the streets, smearing each other with colors, abir, and water. Market areas and public squares turned vibrant as various organizations hosted cultural programs, pani puri Holi festivals, and bhajan-kirtan (devotional singing) events.
Gaur’s famous Masjid Road, Bhanu Chowk, and several neighborhoods were packed with enthusiastic crowds. Local youth groups organized DJ Holi parties, water sprinklers, and traditional drumming performances, making the celebrations even more lively.
To ensure safety during the festival, the District Administration Office of Rautahat implemented special security measures. Authorities took strict action against those engaging in unruly behavior or excessive alcohol consumption, according to the District Police Office.
The festival also provided a significant boost to local businesses, with high sales of colors, abir, water guns, sweets, and other Holi-related items.
The three-day Holi celebrations in Rautahat not only brought joy and excitement but also strengthened social harmony and unity within the community, as expressed by local residents.
