After scoring in the weekend La Liga defeat to Real Betis, it was the first time that he’s scored in back-to-back appearances for Los Blancos since January 2024.

This is the sixth season that Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid have faced one another in the knockout stages of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League (including finals) and Real have won all five previous ties. Following this first-leg win, they have a good chance of making it six from six.
